Texas SmartScape Tour this Saturday


The Coppell Community Garden will host the Texas SmartScape Tour on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.  Maps will be available from 8:30-10:30am at Helping Hands Garden located next to Town Center, 255 Parkway Blvd.  This is a self-guided tour of Coppell landscapes and gardens featuring drought-tolerant native and adapted plants that require minimal irrigation.  The tour will showcase five Coppell homes and the two Coppell Community Gardens.  Volunteers and homeowners will be available on site to answer questions about gardening using SmartScape techniques.  Come see what you should plant now for beautiful blooms next year from the homeowners of some of the most unique landscapes in Coppell. This free tour is easily biked and is a great reason to get out and enjoy the fall weather! Bike route map will be included.

Upcoming Neighborhoods Networking Event

The City of Carrollton along with the Neighborhood Advisory Commission (NAC) will be hosting Neighborhoods Networking 2012 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25 at the Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road). The goal of this event is to encourage citizens from nearby neighborhoods to interact with each other in order to create a stronger community. Neighborhood leaders will share success stories followed by City staff presentations and a Q&A session. A neighbor mixer at the end will encourage communication among neighborhoods.

Topics include code compliance and community development; neighborhood revitalization; projects, beautification grants, and sign toppers; as well as crime prevention and crime watch.

City of Carrollton to Begin Aerial Spraying

Carrollton, TX – In response to the public health threat posed by West Nile Virus (WNV), the Carrollton City Council met on Wednesday, August 15 at 4:30 p.m. and approved participation in a regional aerial spraying program. This aerial spraying is designed to help stop the severe West Nile virus outbreak in Dallas County and will be conducted by the State of Texas August 16-19, weather permitting.
